in the book eevoon gav me, i came across the second part of the verse. googlin it up, i found tat there was a part a to the verse.
think it's God's call to our struggles - to really shut the door to sin by commandin ourselves nt to dishonor God.
esp when i read the first sentence. this may b a bit out of context, but it's true tat in our body, the house/temple of God, we are so called the greatest. we decide which way we wanna go & follow.
we are entrusted with much. we had been blessed richly by God. how then can we think of goin against God?
& todae sermon. abt love being nt takin advantage of others, but givin of ourselves.
as we grow in God's love, as we know God's love more & more, we ought to be so full of love, such tat we can't bear to sin against others.
as we surrender to God & His love, He will transform us & help us through. it's nt hopeless. the temptations may b there, but we can hold on, coz we are aimin for Christ's standard. His greatest love will sustain us thru.
on a side note, the other day i was havin a buffet. i was thinkin. at a buffet, we hav many choices, but we alway choose the best. we r nvr force to take wat others recommend, we hav to choose for ourselves wat's best.
it's nt exactly a correct matchin illustration, but there's tat bit of the idea in it. yeahh..

it's been a very long while. doubt blogs r still in nowadays.
anyway, tis is smt nt tat suitable for fb & thus i shall post tis here.
yk, u so need to b patient.
in recent months & weeks, i'd been realizin how different i hav become & as a result of which, havin all sorts of plans for my future.
in terms of lifestyle, i no longer can really relate wit the youth. many times, they look pretty much to me for spiritual & ministry guidance. yes, though i look at some of the young ones ard & see them as ppl who are so full of potential to make great difference in the corrupted world, there is nt tat much i can do.
& so yeah, there's still this desire in me to do smt crazy. to make a radical move in my life. perhaps tis is coz of a heart tat really want to do wat it enjoys.
yet again, yk, u so need to b realistic & flow in God's plan.
but well, watever that plan is. there's still this current phase tat i need to faithfully close & hand over. time to disciple, & let new ppl run wit the vision i first started. to go & do things even greater than me.
yeah, it's gonna still b a long while. but my heart is juz so excited, tempted & impatient. tat y, i need God to tame me, make me patient & trust in Your ways.
this year is gonna b such a radical year. so many things r gonna happen. phewww...

malaysia trip

i believe i hav smt to do, but either i m procrastinatin (denyin) it or i m desperately tryin to recall it.
o well, since i wanna blog abt my trip, here it is. i disappeared to MUAR on 4 nov & returned on 5 nov. coz my mum needa work on sat & i needa b on duty too. haha.
yeah, i drove all the way there. was quite fun & enjoyable cruisin at 110. i m a gd guy, i dun speed (:
sadly, on the way there, i had to apply smt i learnt in the army. nt to stop or to swerve to avoid animals which suddenly crossed the road. yeahh. sad, but no choice. if i stop, it may cause an accident. o well.
muar is a small town, wit like hardly any tourists. there's like onli a handful (literally) of decent hotels. & u can cover the main part of town easily by foot. it's juz a quiet town wit nth.
still it was a colorful experience explorin the streets. & coz the layout is nt entirely rectangular, my direction sense was nt exactly functionin. haha.
so my mum & i juz anyhow walk ard, wit a very rough direction sense to get us back to hotel. we bought all sorts of stuff. literally. shoes, groceries, stationery, food etc etc.
one main thing we did apart from walkin is eating. but there's nth much special there. wanton mee, char kway tiao, chicken rice, dim sum, otah, grilled fish....tat's abt it. haha. the most special thing, a pastry wit pork fillin (super yummy!) was from other parts of malaysia haha.
that did nt include our hotel breakfast. it looked quite pathetic. but the fried rice, soto bee hoon, porridge etc was pretty gd. ate until quite full.
& we got ourselves stuck in a place wit no cab & sorta no way to walk back to hotel. haha. it was at their giant. so my mum & i had to ask a lady who kindly drove us back lol.
it was a very interestin lesson in town plannin. seriously. build a giant tat u can onli drive there. haha.
on 2nd day, we drove back. visited very small & quiet towns tat barely classify as town. haha. had lunch at parit jawa (& that was like the onli time we saw so many s'porean cars)..
oyster egg (i eat egg, mum ate oyster), sambal prawns, otah & fried rice. we were already quite full from breakfast, so we packet half our lunch home for dinner hahaha.
yeahh...interestin lah. drivin & drivin. so carefree. so enjoyable. nt the perfect trip, but a gd one.
yupp...for now like tat, for the record...hehe

when u stand at the crossroads of tough choices, simply imagine God askin u these 3 questions.
1. What price will you not pay for Me?
2. Didn't you always say you will follow me with all your life?
3. What about the price I paid for you?
how to reply man? juz like tears r said to b women's ultimate weapon, i can say these r pretty much God's ultimate weapon hur.
in the end, it's realli all abt faith. it's all abt God, nt urself.
God's ways are always higher. you seriously hav absolutely no idea how tis way may b better.
perhaps again, it is nt abt the here & now. how much you can do for the Kingdom if what you planned go on smoothly.
perhaps when ur character is molded, you may b able to do so much more in the future. tat it simply outweighs the present 'gain'.
& also, when you walk, you can always b assured His presence will guide every step of the way. nothin beats tat feelin, tat assurance of knowin He has smt installed.
so, u can juz onli walk forward in faith. go thru everythin wit Him. it may nt easy, it may nt b wat u wanted, but well.
it's really very tough. i juz feel like castin everythin aside as a sign of protest, demostration, make a stand watever nt. haha. but well. God's ultimate weapon. how to counter?

God is very, very interesting. or rather in the way He calls me.
many times, He does it in moments when i feel the least up to e job. moments when i consider myself the least qualified.
& in tis case, when i realli consider it somewat beyond me.
it is a huge commitment tat i don't realli feel ready. esp wit e amt of things alreadi on my plate. yet, each time i m called, i always know tat it's coz i m trusted to do smt abt it.
& i m reminded once again. tat we r always the best person available for God's callin.
o well. wat a week it has been.
esp tonite. i m super angry tat singtel replaced my house's modem wit a LOWER speed than our plan. & it's freakin way slower.
if i still dun get e supervisor on e phone soon, they are all goin to receive a complain letter from me. bleahhh.
think s'pore small, they dominate market, they can do watever they wan.
o well.....watever e case. honestly, i m nt quite ready for tmrw. esp wit e nonsense from singtel tonite.
goin library expo book sale in mornin before headin to nexus. hopin can get some gd bargains.

todae's an interestin day. went yishun safra adventure activity.
abseiling was a traumatic experience. i was quite badly shaken aft tat. though it inspired me abt our christian life.
rock climbin as it was when i first tried it in sec 3, was fun, & extremely tirin. climbed till my arms & legs were shaking. at least i did my best le. hehe..
aft e abseilin experience, i consider e canopy challenge walk to be beyond me. i'll realli freak out. i'm there for fun, nt to torture myself.
but that's nt all. i hope my ns life wun take too big a change aft todae hehe. aft i was approached by someone, "you looked familiar, like someone i knew before..." & yes, turns out to b my pri sch classmate. lol.
i dun rmb a single thing, though admittedly he had looked strangely familiar. then as i was cyclin to cut hair & thinkin abt it, an impression began to form in my mind. perhaps knowin too many ppl of e same name dilutes my memory. hehe..
o well. abt abseilin. aft tryin it, i m quite in a dilenma wat to describe it. it was scary, & it took much coaxin from others & myself, a lot of small steps, & quite a lot of fearin and wincin before i leaned far out enough to begin e descend.
it was quite a somewat fun experience, how a single rope twisted & tied around a carbine can actually slowly and steadily lower u down. i even attempted to look around & admire e 'scenery' from tis once (yes, probably one & only) in my lifetime experience. lol.
yet, if u were to ask me to do again, i realli dunno if i'll dare do it again. until we moved onto rock climbin did i got over e 'trauma'. haha..
o well. as i was sayin. it realli reminded me tis is how our Christian life shld b like. to push ourselves over e edge & trust in the stability and security of 1 rope. it is pretty scary (at least for me) to inch forward to e edge, to stick myself out onto thin air & get off.
yet, when we do so, we found tat it was not as scary as it seems. & yeah, tat's true. when we challenge ourselves to beyond us, it may look tough, but aft we made e decision, it dun look tat difficult.
& our life, is one aft another of such experiences. we may nt wish to relive it, but we will con't to obey. yes, we may even get kinda comfortable wit it, which well, is pretty gd. to enjoy takin up God's challenge all e time, no matter e difficulty, i guess.
hmmm yeahh..
& another thought. we shld make Kingdom livin our passion & joy, for tat'll b wat consumes our lives. & we'll need wat consumes our lives.. yeahh..

i m bloggin now coz of 2 reasons...
1, coz now i m finally at seletar, & thus i reached home early enough to clear some emails & stuff
2, & those stuff aren't a lot coz it's e low season, hence i m quite free & nth to do
finally, aft months being posted to the west, i m now at a camp 15min bus journey away...wahaha.. though e walk inside camp to coy line is also 15min, at a fast pace -.-
& the camp is hugeeeee. so thankfully can bring bike in so yeahh. easier to travel ard, & in out.
& the place is so pretty hehehe... i love british colonial buildings. e place is kinda like a resort & u're transported back to 1930s, 1940s
& i'm right beside e sea, so yeahh, nice scenery to read bible too hehehe..
but aiya, a lot of things to b sian abt.. juz hope along e way things wun b as bad as it seems..
& there isn't much units there i can revocate too lol. so juz b thankful it's stay out :D
will b stuck there forever...hehee
anyway, i m simply nt used to havin nth much to b busy abt nowadays haha. feel so uncomfortable haha (:

though i m realli exhausted from the totally chaotic & practically collasped reg todae, i still believe in givin thanks & affirmation to this team. without them, todae would had been worse.

1st, to God. can't imagine mingyu & myself survivin thru todae on simply 1h of sleep.

to mingyu. chionging preparations at suntec & thereafter, at my house till 4.30am. then even takin lead of e team he was supposedly onli e asst team leader. it's realli nt easy, this being his first event wit Y-Admin, & he proven himself a capable leader & support.

to the EL1 girls, jasmin, ida & mabel. the girls had pretty much been 1 package, & tgt they stayed late for day 0 preparations, givin their very best in everythin they do. & even tis time, willin to try out leadin ppl. all pillars of Y-Admin.

& of coz, to the EL1 lady, yanyu. being my advisor when it comes to dealin wit e 3 girls above. supportin me in sendin down info to e team leaders. & all the prep. & also, e filipino sortin out, done wit jasmin!

to ann qi. until e night teachin, i nvr truly realized tat she's a very sweet & carin girl. givin us all kit kats. & also showin concern to her leader. a deeply appreciated 3rd gen volunteer who did well todae.

to gek kee. for her enthu spirit & initiative in learnin. always amazed by the joy she can derive from e troubles of these 2 days. & also being a great help in day 0 prep.

to david & xueyong, my 2 key leaders in y-admin. takin charge of ur team even as everythin sorta collaspes, & leadin them to support where necessary. stayin to help out aft lunch break, so tat we aren't overwhelmed.

to yi hao, an alumni. for his willin heart & sweet spirit in findin out wat he can help in. despite tat he has work, he still made time out for briefin & todae.

to si hui, leadin her side smoothly, eliminatin 1 less trouble for me. & immediately comin in to support e walk in reg.

to emily, for stayin durin e 1st teaching to help gwen, for helpin giv out the UL & watever not.

to sandy, like sihui, i had nt heard of any rescue calls from ur side.

to cyril, also a gd support, & helpin to shift things ard. esp he's a UA, along with suelin, gek kee & grace, whose help were nt obligated.

& finally to my gd friend, LG mate & co-worker, gwen khoo. can't survive without her support, her advice & insights. yuuppp. she played such an impt role. way too much to describe hehe..

finally to everyone - thanks for workin so, so hard without breakfast. i was so busy till i forgot abt it & no one grumbled or wat throughout e mornin. onli aft everythin, did u all remind me. thanks for all ur sweet spirit.

& also most of u being on time or respondin e call to come earlier. every little bit of effort realli counted to lessenin the mess!

it's been a long while

well, with most of my time consumed by army, there isn't much i can blog abt. & also no time. & also lazy to log out of youth admin gmail to blog haha.
& there's facebook for those once in a while thought.
but well, now tat i m kinda bored & nothin to do, thot it's time to write some updates.
it's been almost 6 months in army le! a quarter thru le. time realli flies.
for e past month i had been in jurong. it's a very, very long journey. one hour half.
thankfully, i had an array of solutions to wakin up early.
roughly once a week i drive. but the journey back home had thus far proved to be very, very difficult.
some days my dad drop me off.
& now i m thankful i can sleepover at my aunt's place on some days when my dad work night shift (so he can drop me off).
yeahh..but most times, i needa make e journey home myself. hah. which is still more bearable than wakin up early in e mornin & rushin a bit to catch the first or third train or smt. haha..
nvm. endure another month or so, & i'll out of e west! by faith & in faith.
yeahh that aside.
ministry wise. 3 usher teams. still nt quite adjusted to the 1st svc team. guess i spent too much time wit my 2nd svc ppl.
y-admin is recently involved in MAD collation. i m proud of my volunteers, they keyed it in very well.
there is much transfers recently. & also restructurings. all progressin well. hehe..
& i m in e midst of plannin e next y-admin tee. comin end of e year :D
hehe yeahh...some things to write down. as a form of memory.
yupp...& i so needa meet jerel up some day haha. when i hav e car, then prob we can drive to eat fish & chips or smt lol.
money, money, money. hah. been very tight of late. too many big items to budget for. & all too impt. hehe (:

more than a month!

gosh. been not bloggin for so so long.
been wantin to go to facebook hah. but lazy? hahhh.
it's been a rough week for me. o well.
1 thing had been floatin in my mind. to study or to work aft army.
know i had been tellin ppl i'll work.
but a wacky idea had been in my mind on wat to study. smt different from my diploma. vastly different.
even if i study, it wun b so much for e qualification. more to understand deeply the continent i wanna go.
then again. i wonder will my passion die down aft i go? haha. then it'll all be for nothin.
& also study somethin of my interest, & in a hopefully less stressful environment. yeah, my interest remains also in tourism.
& as i think abt it. i think abt e costs. financially, 'emotionally' (aka loneliness + homesick), & esp ministry. i carry so many hats, in fact, i m increasingly aware that in e near future, wat i m doin is almost 2 person job.
if i study, means beginnin of next year needa start bringin in new ppl to replace me...unless i take a full year plus of break aft army. hahaaa....
haizz. a very difficult & big decision hahh.
u know. all our life. pri sch govt compels us to study. society will look down on us if we dun complete sec sch. & if we dun get at least a NITEC or diploma, we hav no future.
these are all things we shld hav. so we juz study.
but now come to this. it is a very interestin choice to make lol.
think abt work. also sian. & s'pore tourism industry nt very big ar. or rather nt diverse enough. to engage & excite me.
hahaa.
anyway. in a blink of an eye. my course is endin. & i'm supposed to b more knowledgeable abt vehicles than before. yeahh. a bit more. but nt tat much more as i m supposed to b lol.
had lotsa fun though. in these few months, played a lot. slack a lot & all hehehe.. if nt for uniform & certain restrictions, it juz dun feel army hehe..
pheww. a long post.
tmrw meetin some of my ushers. a number of issues to settle. & decided to add in an icebreaker, a twist to how i usually conduct meetings.
& hmmm. i hav 1st svc tat i hav nothin to do! hahh.
yeahh. feb is over. so fast. 2 months of 2010 has passed, n i dun felt i had accomplished much! haha.. actually it's a lot, but it's been such a whirlwind..
okie. time to play some game before finalizin tmrw's meetin & then sleep.
o yes. been nostalgic of late. playin games & watchin movies from childhood hehehe..

hungry. eatin cookies now. though i brushed teeth le...hah
prob coz of the like 4 hours long meetin eevoon, carmen & myself had. eevoon is like some SDL, & we her UL restructurin the entire sub-district. lol.
it was very fruitful, brain zapping, n magical hah. the numbers juz fit. nvr thought it will b so taxin todae hahaha..
esp aft such a difficult day. where the consequences of lack of coordination, miscomm, n timing all fall u & ur team. & nt to mention the smaller tis n tat. n wit a leader who is more temperamental n impatient. hah. & so 1 poor usher had to suffer e other side of me.
yeahh. smt abt my day. 1st & a bit of 2nd svc was realli nt easy. 2nd svc felt like it lasted 3h or more, so happy when it ended. haha.
i was thankful God gives us grace to do His will. each new day. from 'none but Jesus', if u find the lines kinda familiar.
& i m thankful for the ushers. realized they settled by themselves a number of simple issues. it is realli a great blessin nt to bother abt these stuff. hehe

life is realli nt juz abt achievements, abt wat u gained, abt how u look in front of others
at the end of the day, wat one finds joy in is nt tat.
it is in juz marveling at an awesome scenery. or prob enjoyin a nice high class (or cheap simple hawker) meal. for some, it is gluein oneself in front of the TV for hours. or readin a book.
tat's realli wat we had been wired for. to juz hav fun & relax. and also do some work. but nt the sloggin a huge chunk of our life away earnin thousand & millions.
coz when we are at rest, that's when we get a slice of heaven. the place we were originally meant for. & our heart so eagerly searches for it tat such temporal earthly experiences r always better than nothin.
yupp...so thoughts. from marina barrage outin & a book i had been readin of late.
walking with God everyday. to enjoy. to savour. to love.

life had been kinda mundane, so been bloggin less & less.
anyway, for e past month or so, a weird feelin had been lingerin in my heart. until todae, i hadn't been able to realli know wat it was.
recently i bought tis book, Unseen Footprints. i sensed very much tis is a book i must read.
& indeed, as i embark on the first few pages, tat weird feelin bearin on my heart became clear.
at the end of the day, whatever i had accomplished for God is nothing, without a right & close relationship with Him.
yes, the past season, i may hav achieve a lot. ministry wise, i had seen y-admin transited into a new phase & i leadin the usher team on countless occasions.
but at e end of e day, all i realli wan is God. i had done so much, yet tat joy isn't there, coz all my heart actually yearns for is God.
it's juz such simple, yet powerful. all e pieces juz fell in place.
& one more thing. all tat i achieved had worn me out so much. & i finally realized tat yes, indeed i m nt in control. the more i achieve, the more i realized tat by myself, i could nt hav done it.
juz so blessed by e book. resolve the knots tat had been tying me down to lookin forward & plannin for 2010. yeahh

wat a way to start the year. lol.
will b on guard duty.
but gd lah. means confirm wun tio a sat duty till i m off from this camp. or rather 99.9%. well, at least accordin to wat i heard.
& besides, i hav no plans on e day. so yeahh.
tmrw will b at east coast. thurs half day. fri 24h duty. wat an eventful week haha. but ok lah, sat duty, shld b no prob.
yeah ok, gtg soon. tmrw needa send my dad to airport then watch sunrise at east coast hahaha..

todae minops thanksgivin, one of e rare times i had interacted wit e grp in so long.
i m thankful for all them, fellow co-workers wit me. being a blessin to one another.
these few months been really crazy months. i m juz so numb to so many things. almost like a robot le. lol.
as i was readin thru e cards, i m juz thankful for each & every of my LG members. most likely i wun b writin cards though.
thank God for all that He done in these closin months of 2009. think y-admin had really reached new heights. done things i nvr thought can actually b done.
2010 is comin. e work is far from over. readin the cards realli encouraged me to go on even more for Him. hehe.

Dog

haha. i m findin dogs more & more cute & interestin as my cousins' dog continue to roam throughout my house.
it, or rather she, seems to enjoy sittin & lyin down beside my bed tonite. she spent last night explorin e livin room. haha..
n i cannot resist but captured some shots of her todae. sleepin & doin other stuff haha..
well, like a baby, cute to look at, probably play with, for a few days. but nt for life. hehehehe..
planned out tmrw's meeting. hope tat it'll turn out well. esp e UA trainin team.
these days i m feelin realli e burden of carryin 1 & one third ministries on my back. Y-Admin is no small & light ministry. add to it like a third of e ushering ministry. but yeah, i'll soldier on.
anyway, abt yest christmas svc.
there was this elderly man, who was intellectually disabled who came to our svc. juz walked in. i onli realized his disability when i was usherin him out.
it kinda struck me, tat how i wish we hav ppl who can prob handle this grp of ppl, somehow touch them with God's love or smt. the man was very appreciative of how we helped him & all i believe. he was thanking us all e way out.
well, i m no social worker, so no solution i hav hehe..
& yest i found myself doin more than wat i was expectin & hopin to do. coz i couldn't find any FM in charge of e middle section, & e walk in was terribly slow & late, i had to step in to personally lead e ushers to hopefully settle ppl down fast to enjoy e svc.
haha. thinkin back. i realized i kinda appear more eager for the ppl to b seated than they themselves lol. o wells. coz i hav to cover left to right, right to left. so i hav to rush both sides.
& eventually i realized carmen & i hav tis unspoken bond. somehow, every suntec svc, she'll always b coverin e outside, n i, e inside. haha. juz somehow, we'll settle into coverin e same various areas.
hmm yeah. gtg. time to sleep (:

Christmas!

so busy this christmas, tat i nvr wrote a single card, & nt intendin do anythin like tat. hehe..
todae i juz gonna spend my day watchin shows online. n also plannin tmrw's meetings. juz wanna rest & do things slowly.
anyway, my aunt left her dog in my house coz they went out of town. in recent years, i'd been startin to b comfortable with & even kinda like dogs. provided it's like her, quiet, dun come disturb me too much etc..
so yupp..but well, few days still ok lah. long term most prob nt.
Bodyguards & Assassins. plannin to watch it tmrw. since well, i dun hav any weekdays i m free to watch it lol.
n yeahh. tmrw is rather planned out le. various stuff to do at vivo aft meetings.
& my tudou is nt workin properly -.- hehehe
n i thought aft i left poly, i'll no longer face problem based learning (PBL)
the big problem is tat since it is based on problem, there's always a huge problem figurin out wat exactly is the solution e instructors/lecturers r lookin for..
but now it's back to haunt me....

23 dec - eve of christmas eve

since i enlisted, this entire period been almost a burnin time for me.
very busy n all. on duty for every week till last sat, aft christmas svc, i hav to admit i m realli drained. even tmrw svc, up till todae, i wasn't quite prepared for it.
esp these days, 7.30-5.30 work life. with almost 3h spent travelin, i m home less than half e time literally.
home is spent on dinner, watch tv, clear some stuff n sleep. it had been kinda tirin. even though i took a complete break last week for a couple of days, it is barely enough to withstand e weariness of sat & these few days.
yet, it drives me more to depend on God. coz tis is barely e end of e season. still much to b done to wrap up e season & to also kickstart e year.
want to do, do to e best. God will make up for wat i lack.
& amidst it all, let my heart nt grow hard n immune to wat breaks God's heart.

but it's juz smt so impt. shall nt elaborate on it in e context of WWII. rather, some thots tat came to my heart today.

this past week coz of a book & some thots etc, e word 'glory' been resoundin in my mind.
Glory of God.
n todae a related thot came to me. abt our service to Him bein a reflection of His glory.
tat wat we do reflects e church, & since e church reflects Him, wat we do reflects Him.
n in admin, though small n nt tat very significant, we want to do it superbly well. do everythin beautifully, so tat it'll look awesome, n glorious. juz like who God is.
yupp.
next week realli lookin fwd to everythin. realli need time off to focus on God, get recharged & all.
2010 looks a mind boggling year. a very stretchin year. dunno how to cope, but there's so much tat we dun get started now, we'll nvr get started.
so realli need God to speak n inspire. n ready me for a busy year ahead.

i juz read e news on e new BMT haha. thank God mine is over le, & i passed. 9 weeks now! lol.
was reflectin on this 6 weeks. one thing i saw was how God fights for His ppl. last night another quite impossible to avoid thing was avoided. hehe..
& i juz had this thought. God fights for us, we fight for Him. this few weeks were one of e most stretchin period i ever had in ages. it's realli nt easy fightin so hard for e Kingdom, when u think abt e 1001 things u could had done.
watch a movie? slack at home? hangin out at random places? haha, i m a very borin guy. i'll stay home i guess. but instead, i had been out early every sat, & returnin late on many.
so much to do, but tat had nt deter Christ from givin Himself.
& e other time, i was thankful for a surprise canteen break. i sat far behind at e canteen & emo. haha.. it was a powerful refreshin moment munchin on pocky & cheezels.
i was reminded tat God will share our burden. He is the One who will empower & in fact had empowered me to endure thru this few weeks. ushering, & lots of admin.
and i m thankful for such a Friend who carries me thru.
monday passin out. sunday bookin in kinda juz for it. even my block leave is packed full of stuff! pre-camp activities, ministry plannin, my mum's b'day celebration, & a few other stuff. nt to count camp & my bali trip. will b so fun, to juz disappear off on my own. to take time to unwind & mayb think & plan.

thank God for another slack week hehe..juz a few more days & i'll b thru.
anyway, a thot had been on my mind of late.
coz in army, ur life is pretty much controlled by ur commanders. like ur weekends n all. most, if nt all, of our infamous neighbors seemed to hav e past few (& i think e remainin few too) of their sat burnt.
n makes u wonder, is God or them in charge?
esp recently, for somethings i dun wanna specify, e prospect of havin one sat burnt was very high. it was on my mind, n each time i think abt it, i pray.
n thankfully & to pretty much to my surprise, everythin worked out perfectly. e best scenario, one i wasn't quite expectin. though i was hopin for it quite eagerly.
so yup now, my weekends r free unless smt else happens.
e next event tat triggered tat thot was wit rgds to my bali trip. one evenin, we were told we can ask for e dates for our leave to go overseas. coz we hav 4 days of leave to clear. e rest of our block leave r considered offs & so technically we r on standby.
then suddenly next day we were discouraged from goin overseas durin our leave.
it's kinda demoralizin coz i m realli lookin fwd to my bali trip. it's a qn of who's in control? God or man?
n one answer i had was yest at e canteen durin our canteen break, where we chiong on all kinda snack.
there, i found myself mesmerized by e sunset over e sea. juz relaxin as i look out over e clear expanse of sky wit some clouds & e settin set. wished i had my fav kinda drink wit me.
& i found myself longin for tis bali trip. to get away, lie on a beach, or sit along a hill or smt & juz stare out at scenery to unwind myself.
it's been a busy season, i had hardly any quality recreation time. well, prob tmrw i'll hav some. since it's a long weekend wit nothin much on tmrw.
anyway, i prayed there & then. askin God if that was His encouragement for me to juz go & tat no stunts will b pulled whatsoever while i m overseas.
so yeah, point is. in some situations, u'll find urself wonderin who controls ur life. God or man.
n i'm prayin for my block leave to b untouched. wit a ministry plannin for 2010, some impt private stuff, camp & bali trip, my 2 weeks r stuffed full. prayin realli hard, hopin nothin will ruin my plans.
yup. some heavy thots on my mind.

thank God i'm in pes c.
if nt for one, i'll hav died if field camp was any longer than it was.
if field camp was nt enough to kill me, the tremendous workload will hav break me apart.
every book out i'm confronted by a long, long list of to-do when i'm home.
but all these years, i hav learnt to b strong. to rise above e challenges. to press on, to always throw in my best.
& at e same time know how to unwind. like last night aft everythin, with eevoon, gwen & zyann.
anyway, 2 more weekends n i'll b out of tekong. so nt too bad.
n another 1 more weekend from then to camp.
then once Christmas hits n passes, will b y-admin retreat.
n yeah, tat will wrap up the season.
n o yes, a pit stop in btwn camp & Christmas at bali. hehee.
2010 is comin. been too busy to realli think of wat it meant.
to me, every new year is a painful time tat 1 year had gone by, n i m 1 step closer to independence.

n quite impt my bali trip. camp will b a time of spiritual refreshment, my bali trip will b a physical one.

it's realli stressful, but i motivate myself wit the trip to go hav some fun, unwind n relax.

todae was a realli packed & 'numbed' sat.
duty & so much to do & oversee.
havin juz been back for a day, aft 2 mindless weeks, todae a lot of things do until kinda mechanical. tat y i say it's a numb day.
thankful though the bits & pieces of worship i could participate in were realli deep.
it's kinda illogical tat one hav to serve so hard right aft 2 weeks in army. but when u think abt how much Christ gav & how much the Kingdom meant, it is juz so hard to excuse urself.
it is juz so imperative to give n pour urself out, no matter how u feel.
of coz, amidst it all, always take time out to focus on the object of ur worship. to comfort myself in God's love n arms.
it's realli a great joy to know of a hope you r livin for daily, to know of a savior, to know of a lord who has e greatest plan in life for me.
juz wanna con't to love Him, to b soaked in His presence.
n above all, giv my very all for His church. it's gonna b tough saturdays ahead, but i'm forgin on in faith & i'll stay focus on my priority.
yupp. some thoughts of e day. things tat captured my heart durin e bits & pieces of worship.
priority. prioritize our time to seek Him.

back from a sunny island off s'pore.
where e sun is so domineering tat even in light rain, e sun can still shine brightly. where clouds/rain wrestle hard wit it to gain control of e sky.
overall, it was a pretty reasonable stay. ask me more lah.
todae came back, wanted to find things to do. apparently due to in part of mood, accomplish little haha.. then again, nt tat much to do, onli tmrw meetin ppl then will hav.
passin out on 8th dec. n till then, a breakdown of my saturdays:
7th (tmrw) - duty + update meetings
14th - ministry drive
21st - duty
28th - all TLs away in GC, chances of ushering? hehe

wahaha...packed saturdays!
abt 40% of my stay is over le! thankful tat so far so gd. nt matter wat e other 60% may turn out, at least tis part is great.
managed to hav time here n there to read n nourish my mind spiritually.
coz i m readin tis book tat is kinda like a commentary on e book of Philippians. so it's interestin wat certain words actually meant n etc. yupp..

admin weekend

i hadn't blogged much abt my weekend hur. except yest's water bap.
sat i missed out much of 2nd svc coz of admin briefing. to partially make up, i had gone for 1st svc p&w since eevoon wanted to meet me up for lunch.
but haha, was a disturbed p&w coz e ushers will still look to me when carmen's nt in sight. & also coz i can't concentrate seein such a huge amt of ppl in svc..
yet still, it's a time to connect my spirit wit God.
think e rebuilding our community is a very gd one for the church. our congregation seemed to b explodin like nvr before. n it's nt like coz one grp grow a lot. it's like every grp a little n tgt a lot. every lesson is like so applicable, n so practical.
back to e admin briefin....both briefings were very different. hah.. 1st svc was more entertain-able (if there's such a word haha)
tis time round, a lot of new changes n all. n there was nt much qn asked. either they r clear or too lost to know wat to ask haha.
next 2 sat i'm nt ard, n i realized i m kinda worried, mostly coz there is much details they hav to see to. dunno if they can grapple wit it.
then 7th nov when i'm back, it's my usher duty. 14th is ministry drive. so many to see to right aft i'm back from 2 weeks of hiatus.
think dec camp will come upon me very soon. e next 8 weeks may well go very fast.
pheww ok. tonite will enjoy myself. splurging. hehee.

todae i kinda learn smt. excellence adds one value.
excellence goes beyond surface. all e tiny little things r seen to.
excellence gives people assurance. tat is smt y-admin so need. we dun juz wan to get things done on e surface. every single detail will also b probed into.
think it's a challenge for many. coz it takes lots of initiative & also a burdened heart.
hmm yeahh.
todae finally a sunny water baptism. nvr knew our usual reg table spot at ywca was so sunny. haha..
todae fielded an experienced admin team - zyann & yanyu. kinda relaxed coz nvr realli much to brief on haha.. they know like everythin they needa do. sometimes couldn't b bothered to step in, juz let them take a short while to figure out wat to do.
as e day grow closer n closer, i m kinda feelin mixed. excited yet a little nervous. for me, it'll b a gd experience. next time go africa doubt i can bring a filipino maid there hahaha.. n also easier find a wife haha
actually there is also a bit of anxiousness over my ministries. trainings n manuals do help, but there is so much more to leadership. there seem to b endless n countless things i wanna impart.
n i m kinda wonderin abt all e hk dramas i'll b missin....hahaha...but well again, no hk dramas in africa i guess, apart from online haha.
guess one gd thing..to nt b attached to anythin but God. hehee.
n if anyone's reading this. i'll b gone onli for 2 weeks max. nt 2 years or 20 years. juz like u dun send someone off for a holiday, u dun need to turn up. seriously.
it may nt b a luxury tour to europe, or a wine tour down australia or wat. it'll b like a volunteer trip to poorer nations like ___. in such ulu places, there is no internet or tv. yupp.
next few nights will b enjoyin myself quite a bit. my last few nights of freedom. hehe..

i received 41 b'day sms-es last month! haha...
todae i finally decided those sms-es r too bothersome in my inbox so aft typin them out in the past 45min or so (?), i deleted them all.
most were simple sms-es, so recorded their names. others were like cards! haha..
n if i can still make a b'day wish.....next year n for e rest of my life, pls either giv hardcopy or email! dun sms! haha..
email is preferred! coz i can archive them. hardcopy is gd, but my house got a bit limited space if wanna giv me big cards haha..
n juz thot to single out two senders here. dennis & dewen! dennis i served wit him a lot in e past when he was membership dept head. was both a fun but sometimes horrifyin experience servin wit such a cheeky guy haha.. but he's godly as well, passionate abt the Kingdom of God.
always very caring, n yeahh, a comfortable person to talk to (when he's nt being crazy)..
dewen is also another godly leader. actually think abt it, nvr realli worked wit him before. mostly is kinda indirect coz of camp. also a funny guy yet passionate leader.
think tat e church is realli a great place to serve in. wit so many passionate leaders, wit so many caring ppl n all. though we're from different backgrounds n all, Jesus unites us all as one for one purpose n mission.

eat fish

todae went for a run at IMH. saw gideon again haha..but i wun b runnin any more at IMH for years le.
everytime i run, my mind also go wild haha..was thinkin abt my enlistment.
somehow, i m kinda excited to start life as a recruit. hehe.. more as a soldier rather.
it's kinda e excitement a kid feels when he/she starts school? lol. if the kid enjoy goin sch one lah.
it'll b like wat shirls shared abt recently on eating fish.
as one who kinda enjoy eatin steamed fish (in fact, onli one i tried at yunnan realli captivated me), it is nt an easy job. tryin to make sure my meat dun hav any bones, or e trouble of pullin a bone out when i found one.
but yeah, e meat is usually quite nice. so yeahh, it's troublesome. some fish hav more bones than another.
nonetheless, i hav to say, many times in life things dun come without e bones (sadly). n yeah, some r a bit more irritating.
yet, guess at e end of e day, it's a choice to enjoy e gd n to move on from e nt so gd.
unless God turns me into a dog. but then again, dogs dun eat fish bone dun they? haha.
n to 'prove' tat, i casually googled it up! haha.. n from wat i read, it's nt wise to feed fish wit bones to cats & dogs - coz they may choke it etc! hahh.
o well....we r all humans. so yeah. pick out e bones, discard them n enjoy e meat hehee.

coz i read on the news online the maths paper was very difficult...

had a kinda unhealthy though fun week. unless i eat organic food or wat, socializin will simply b kinda unhealthy.
finally met up the entire DA team tgt on fri. think was fruitful to clarify n set things right. with a mostly new team, think it's time to advance to new heights
next week - combined admin briefing & water bap.
o levels is comin, and my enlistment is comin too. been playin quite a bit of games amidst e busyness of preparation for e admin season.

tis mornin i woke up wit a craving for Imperial Glory. it's kinda an old game i had. old as in 2 years or so?
so i installed it on my comp, got addicted to it for hours, in denial coz i had a great writer block for some thing.
managed to pull myself out for a run though. unfortunately when i returned, my comp broke down! so i can't play :/
itchin to con't e campaign i started. wahahaa. i played Russia. think e last times i played campaigns were wit easier nations like France & Britain.
n i m feelin very BLUE that army life is comin. nt realli coz it's army. mostly coz it's an end to e freedom i had enjoyed. end of being free to do all tat i enjoy. haha...
think it would had been tis bad if i enlisted in apr or smt. no time to play = no missin of e times of playin bleahhhhhhh.
okie. next two nights will b nights of feasting. hehehe..
n e third will b a night of work. this week's nights is so overly packed. onli todae n sunday will i b eatin at home. but todae my maid was sick, so my mum ta-bao food (= no homecooked food).

a tough season descending

as e year is closin, i realli sense a very difficult season comin ahead. n i happily dived into e hole myself. hahaha..
though there will b a lot of delegation, there is still a lot of work to b done. to teach on e job. to supervise. to provide direction. to give e green light. n that's for admin alone..
though there isn't much for usher, but still, there is work to b done on tat side..
n it'll b amidst NS. wahaha.. so i m excited yet at e same time worried. coz time & e Kingdom wait for no man. sense it's e time to move. while e pioneer Y-Admin batch is still ard to support me. i wonder how many will b left by june next year. hehee.

yest had e first of a series of dinners to come. was wit yeshen. had a nasty shock when we arrived at our initial destination. coz nowhere on their website says u need to b 21. so disappointed we left.
thankfully, we found another wonderful place at millenia walk. one which i had wanted to try for its ****s. hehee. turned out they had a restaurant so yeah, was great we managed to find a nice German/Bavarian restaurant.
i was more captivated by e **** than e food. muz say e steak i ordered complemented e ****, if nt e steak would had been normal.
o yeah. It's called Paulaner Brauhauss. (or smt like tat)...
well. still enjoyed e evening wit him. hehe.. though e food hunt nearly turned disasterous hehehe..
n on e bus home, i was still relishin e ****. heheee. e malt scent was awesome.
aft a few busier days, tis mornin slept in to replenish. hehe. todae nothin much. goin cut hair later hehe..

it feels kinda surreal haha. though i had been sayin i m 20 since e start of e year, it still dun feel tat real to me haha.
2 decades in e world! hehe. e start of a new chpt & all.
tis past year had been extraordinary? saw e birth of Y-Admin, a laborious task tat consumed so much of me? then in usherin reached new heights, leadin ppl & all. esp young ones like sec 2s. n events such as e numerous combined events at suntec & even GC.
n then i graduated tis year too, i kinda forgot how it's like to study le.
so yeahh. literally overwhelmed wit well wishes n all. thanks to fellow labourers in Christ, my CG/MinOps mates, my (the) ushers, my YAs & a whole host of other ppl. hehe..
had a truly unique CG wit my fav drink. it sorta my fav drink haha.
well as i said. a start to a new chpt. startin 'school' all over again, in a nicer way to phrase it. then in e support ministries likely to see some expansion. lookin fwd to expandin & re-organizin Y-Admin to contain it.
usherin wise. dunno leh. haha. think e leadership team needs renewal soon. along wit (in particular) e 2nd svc teams where most might move on next year :/

tis is one verse tat kinda sum tis time of e year annually. realli appreciate e card e ushers made, thanks to scott, carmen & ming jang. it's again a reminder of 1 Cor 15:58b.
as i looked at e photos, among e 4 teams, mj & scott teams r realli e closest two teams. coz i'd realli worked wit most of e ppl when they were juz joined usherin. then recently been takin bryan's team, so had also developed bonds wit them.
juz thankful tat God had placed me here to guide ppl. it's interestin tat ppl can describe me as 'humorous' to 'strict' haha. e fun side of me is mostly to identify wit e ppl. esp e new ones hehe. though ok lah, i enjoy it hehe. though i'll prefer to b quiet :p
it's been almost exactly 2 years since i came into minops. in an offshoot of joshua's words, i m still as strong as ever to conquer mountains. i m still eager to take down mountains for God hehe..
yest had a meeting till very late night to scout out those mountains hehe. but it was all worth it. scout, determine then conquer. if it's for God, i'll gladly go. hehe..
todae found it a bit awkward to share durin 1st svc team, but i juz hope for e team to con't to grow. for e young to mature, for e older to reach greater breakthroughs, for e team to b one tat shines for God.

yest was talkin wit andrew over msn. hehe. one of e few times n in a long while we had a more beneficial talk.
a thought came to my mind. tat as we walked down tis spiritual journey, we will need more & more faith & strength to sustain us so that we can complete it. haha. if i live till 70, i'll hav 50 more years of 'hardship' to go thru. well, i been thru 6. God's grace is enough hehe..
tis morning i did smt kinda random haha. i m kinda hairy n i drop a lot of hair (as normal human beings...) n i was pushin out all e hair from my keyboard usin some cards. so if u ever wanna put a curse on me or wat usin my hair, u know where to find lol.
e other day gwen noted i dun hav a penholder. haha. i prefer my pens lyin down in rows coz i dun wanna set space for a holder for them. easier to see & choose wat to use.
besides. those r lost n found pens hehehe...most. my own pens seemed to b disappearin all e time bleahhh. haha.
okie abt time to go out....for smt. before my program for e night.

todae had hi tea buffet at equinox. wit my family & my grandma.
view was awesome. took my breath away for a while. apart from that, it was very disappointin. particularly since there's such a gd brand tagged to it. had expected much better.
nothin was deservin of my second round. except prob e mango sorbet but tat was at e end when they were keepin everythin. e pancakes were reasonable. was gd wit e chocolate sauce. i nvr tried crabmeat salad (or smt along tat line) before, so enjoyed it a bit.
bread was nt tat fanstatic. baked rice was interestin but average. thai fish cake was nice, but well, how well can fish cake realli b? didn't wan to waste food if there would had been chicken sausage leftover on my plate.
e rasin strudel was left untouched aft 1 mouth coz i didn't know it was raisin. i dun realli like raisin when it's wet kind. tried some of e sandwiches n salads but nothin was impressive. e raisin bread sandwich wit walnut could had been much better.
ok yeahh....a very bad review hur. yeah kinda. nt very memorable considerin it's equinox in swissotel.
ok. rationalize some things out, if wanna drag me out for a drink let me know hehe. i'll gladly travel hehee. feel like goin on a mojito frenzy. hehe.. let's break e bank for them!

todae at cocoa trees @ raffles city, saw lotsa very cute liqueur chocolate! o goshhh. there's one they wrap up as bottles, so like one bottle has this particular liqueur, another a different one. then hav one like in those wine wooden cases, juz tat it's round, 1 piece 1 piece inside e box.
dun wanna break e bank for them so....settled on a discounted Goldkenn one. 30% off coz it expires in december hehe..
yeahh hehe... my kinda coke/green tea/lemon tea/sprite. hehe.
n as i study e battle for malaya, it can get realli "O GOSH" many times. like how e troops RAN away when e enemy attacked???? worst, RAN when they simply demolished a bridge? n needed a brigadier & a general respectively to force them to e frontline?
how do u fight a war when ur soldiers simply breakdown under enemy pressure? great strategy (which they don't realli hav in e first place) & powerful equipment would amt to nothin.
i simply find tat our secondary sch studyin of e war to b very shallow. it's juz nt in depth enough y we lost.

i'm abt to hit e 1000 posts mark! hehe
o well. todae aft a brief excursion to hougang mall, i came back home wit e cg to hav cg coz yiyou got caught up at work.
n e interestin thing was tat though i brought my bike out, it was hua xiang cyclin to & fro. coz he came my hse abt 4pm to watch history channel (aft unsuccessfully tryin to get me out of hse earlier).
he couldn't get himself off my bike so i used his concession to bus to hougang central. hehe..
then when came back i had to direct puay so hua xiang cycled back. hmm yeahh.
todae watched Facing the Giants. it was a gd show, but i hav comments n thoughts nt wise to share here hehe :p
e revelation 3:smt part was hilarious, but i guess tat helped drove e point in without u realizin it. tat was one thing tat i rmb i learnt durin e GC workshop on preachin - feed e Word without the listeners realli realizin it.
abt doors tat God had opened no one can shut n all. it's kinda smt tat tugged at my heart a bit..
o well. gtg. needa dry my hair completely before i sleep. got an early breakfast to attempt to catch. then an awesome hi-tea awaitin me too. yupp.
e week is drawin to close. guess it's been a kinda balanced week. wit some admin stuff cleared, n plenty of time playin WC III. n also some time studyin WWII. n o, some time writin my devotional guide. yupp...

pardon me that i can't think of any appriopriate title for todae.
most interesting thing of e day is tat i received a b'day msg from bertram! hah. kinda random coz it's so early! hah. very simple words, but he's a sincere guy.
anyway......scroll down several posts to check on my wish lists etc hehehe...
todae i finally dragged myself out to exercise....but e weather muz literally try to dampen my spirits. wanted to run, but there was a drizzle tat seemed to be a bit heavier when i reached IMH. so was worried abt gettin caught in a rain in e middle of nowhere haha.
so changed to climbin stairs. it was still drizzlin so i believed tat it would con't to do so. to my horror, when i reached like 3rd, 4th or 5th (can't rmb) floor, it poured! wahaha...n as i climbed it got bigger n bigger wit no end in sight... :/
thankfully i chose to climb stairs hehe..n i waited downstairs aft i was done for a while. coz e rain didn't seem to stop. thankfully when i finally ran out of patience n decided to run e gauntlet, it stopped! hehe.. coz i didn't get realli wet except for e water splashed from my wheels.
todae also determined myself to start preparations for e admin season. dug thru my archives n pulled out all e relevant files to my laptop.
then wanted to prepare training, but realized some manuals i had done earlier for other purposes were pretty much more than enough to cover everythin! so ended up nothin much to prepare.
tmrw's cg. i packin dinner from home again. nothin quite beats home-cooked food. n save money too. much to benefit, e onli thing is an extra pack to cycle wit. haha. juz hope tmrw wun rain. o well, short distance can cycle wit umbrella. so nt to worry! hehe..
phewww. anyway think i'll meet a number of familiar faces in tekong hehe. think there r a few enlistin ard tis time too from my course. :/ hehe.. wish i m fitter. then i think i might very well enjoy e experience in some sense. years of neglect since secondary sch! o wells.

1st of all...Happy Birthday Jerel! (: hehe
my dear shpd has turned 21. yest was his b'day party. he realli put in a lot of effort into it considerin his overwhelmin sch load. may nt b very elaborate, but wat matters is e atsmosphere. yup yup...
with e kinda completion of my story last fri, i m kinda lost wat to do! hahaa.. n i juz finished readin a WWII book last week too. so yeah, todae got myself started on another!
think i'll startin a collection in Dec. hehe. tis month is e broke month hehehee. though actually it isn't turnin out tat bad since didn't realli go out much so cut down on e daily to ease e load of e splurging. hehe..
muz understand. my finances r generally divided into 3S - (ordinary) spendin, savin n splurgin. when ordinary hav excess, they go into splurgin n savin.
so tis month i diverted quite a bit into splurgin for all e indulging.
n i juz saw tat 2am: desert bar at holland v has tis degustation menu. like 6 course menu @ $68 (for 2 person). it's one of those places i m reminded of tat i wanna try out. their deserts looks gd hehee. think it's $68++..dunno if UOB's discount applies to tat. but i dun hav UOB credit card discount haha..
n i juz restarted playin Warcraft III. juz III. hehe. simple, basic but addictive. tat's me hehe..quite easily addicted to games...
muz get started on serious stuff le!!! wahaha.. admin & ushering.
n there's nt many weeks left to army :/ but ok lah. think of it as a cross of overseas studyin in e older days & weekends returnin home. kinda like tat.

n i juz redid it wit yest's teachin in mind. i'm an activist. hehe. i cannot stand havin nothin to do. though well, tat does nt mean i hav to do a lot! lol.
worship is also one path to God for me.
intellectual n contemplative n servin r rather controversial for me.
while thinkin abt things make me very refreshed, n wow-ed at times, i dun realli make tat much effort to go think. many times it's juz conincidence. hehe
n while i do take time out to ruminate from time to time, a few times i'll prefer expressin it out. but to certain ppl at certain time. heheee
and yes, i enjoy servin. though many times i wonder if i realli do get connected to God. so yeahh.
but it's realli true i find God thru challenges, n when things r done (:
yeahh. a new week lies ahead. wit abt a month more to army, it's time to push on wit my devotional. hehe. actually i hav no specific idea wat to write. but rather certain thots, principles etc i wanna remind myself out.

haha. suddenly i hav a cravin for food. think i'm too hungry le!
i mean, food from Lavender Food Sq! my prev workplace. e carrot cake there is superb! wit prawns too for juz $3. e beef n beef balls dry kway tiao is also very nice. e briyani there was also memorable. hehe...but it's a bit kinda far, esp to travel juz to eat lol. n i can onli eat one meal, unless ppl share wit me haha..
back then, i had nt started enjoyin wanton mee. heard it's nice. but anyway back then i think i'll b put off by e price. it's rather ex ($4-$5) n e portion normal i heard.
haha.
n i had been cravin to return to Khansama's for Indian food. it was e first time i had Indian food. and i enjoyed it. wish to return back for a meal, but it's in e heart of Little India, kinda inconvenient tooo... hehe...
n there's Riverwalk Tandoor buffet near Boat Quay. it was a memorable n nice buffet. though i dun quite rmb it was below $20 haha...
most of my Indian food was wit my ex-company. all great experiences... n yeah, left wit a cravin for Lavender Food Sq's food. hah. n also e hainanese scissor curry rice ard e area too. hehehe...

-Dempsey Hill: formerly known at Tanglin Barracks, it was the HQ of the Aussies in WWII. n where in final exsperation, they formed their final perimeter ard it. would love both a drink there as well as exploration of e area
-Gilman Village: i'm confused always whether it's 'l' or 'll'. lol. was where the site of 2 Loyals, a British battalion, battled it out in e last days of WWII. esp coz it was also their barracks (their very home), they fought realli hard. but they lost it anyway...
-Jln Hang Jebat/Portsdown Rd area: Apparently there's lots of colonial houses there so yupp...
-Sarimbun! landin site of the Japs. tat one realli need a car, n a car tat can withstand e rocky path!

so well. either u can drive me there or i can wait till i get my license..

hmmm yeahh. my wish lists. my secret desires lol.

realized tat thru my expeditions, i explored most major rd of S'pore. CCK, Jurong, Woodlands, Dunearn/Bukit Timah, Upp East Coast. tmrw goin Sembawang & part Upp Thomson if time permits. been on part of Upp Srg, YCK to Jln Kayu, and a small section of Upp Paya Lebar Rd. plannin on a full one for YCK. n thinkin of one for Tampines Rd too. n prob a full Upp Srg one.

will also love to explore Bukit Timah area more fully, esp in visualizin how e battles ard it unfolded. hehe..

anyway. in recent weeks, in my quest to keep somewhat in shape, i'd realized tat there r a number of exercises tat r realli kinda mean n nasty though they dun appear to b. hehe..
n todae i juz tidied my desk/room a bit hehe...restructured a few things ard. there r still a few areas of my room i'm delibrately avoidin hehe..coz i dunno how to tidy them, so left them as they were since ages ago :x
todae also cleared a load of pictures off my cameras. mostly expedition pictures hehe. in preparation for tmrw. tmrw's a long itinerary, but shld b able to cover everythin.
realized next week may b a bit packed...o well. fruitful hehe...

-I have a huge wardrobe, so clothes is out of the question, along with bags & shoes (i have 4 pairs already, & each from different cities) etc
-Alocohol chocolates? I recently bought this Cocoa Farm chocolate (that has very little alcohol infused in it) at a huge discount, & I really enjoy it a lot. I had also been noticing a lot of similar chocolates that I'll love to try hehe... & i juz finished a liqueur chocolate that eevoon bought for me last year, it's realli gd :D
-Kettle Brand Potato Chips? i recently got myself kinda hooked on tis brand on chips, it's realli nice..interested to try most of the flavors actually..
-Mechanical pencil? lol. unless someone lovingly would tear down downtown east, my home & nexus to hunt for my missing pencil case... haha. it's more of sentimental value, i hav no practical use for one. though i need a pencil now n then... i have a formidable collection of pens i collected from combin thru nexus etc hahaha..
-Books? i hav half a mind to start collectin books on e battle for Malaya/S'pore....i'll particularly grateful if someone can even find for me Kirby Woodburn's The War Against Japan Vol I: The Loss of Japan. am willin to pay anyone in full hehe.. i m abt to kill myself for nt askin my cousin to look for it when she was in UK. lol.

-Mojito is a cocktail tat had won my heart in hk last year. sadly, i had nt enjoyed any in S'pore since then. hav a few places in mind to try. hehe.. honestly. if gonna spend $12-$15 on a meal, i'll rather spend tat amt on a cocktail! non-alcoholics can enjoy drinks at half tat price...n use e remainin amt to purchase a basket of potato wedges! hehe..
-in line with mojito, i'm lookin for white/golden rum as a quick fix to my mojito cravings at home. erm. coz i hav mixer but no rum, so yeahh...need some rum to add with e mixer. hehe

hehehe...been wantin to change my blog skin for a long time, finally got down to action! hehe.
pheww. aft an hour of enlargin e boxes, n adjustin their positions, playin ard wit e colors...here i m done! hehe..

n all thanks to my noob experience in y-comm, i learnt how to edit a bit of basic html hehe..if nt i'll nvr choose tis skin coz e original one had very thin boxes.

it's juz me to hav a solemn, serious skin..hehe..saw several others that were realli nice, but it juz dun express who i m..
i had always enjoy pink as a comfortable color, if u see june camp files, u'll know hehe..blue n orange n grey add a bit of contrast..
o well. i m nt very gd at color schemes, so tag if u think of smt better hehe..
n doin tis has greatly disrupted my efforts to do a personal special interview of myself. so tat'll b a post for another day.

these couple of weeks or so, urgency stirs in my heart. time is tickin down on several matters.
todae did some research from old maps on yck rd, e stretch from buangkok to thomson. there was a particular section tat was completely expunged n realigned. n aft tens of minutes measurin n measurin, drawin n drawin, i still could not map out where e old rd ran exactly.
though well, i can pinpoint wit abt 50-100m radius? hah. tried several method & visualizin, but it juz dun seem to connect properly. so i gav up. haha. it's nt easy when e rd curves here n there. coz e angles matters. tweak a bit here n there n u get a 1001 configurations! n there r no visible landmarks, no rd ard tat still remained since then to base n orientate on.
thinkin of also doin mappin for Cheng San Rd too. though aft todae's experience, i m a little fearful to do it. hehe
n i had been searchin for some gd places to catch up wit some ppl in life too. like juz now. findings to b posted on 14 Sep. hehehe.
n a few secret personal 'projects' tat r nearin completion too. found great personal satisfaction undetakin them. hehe
e most impt of all i guess is my own devotion guide? yupp. hopefully printin my own guide out will entice me to read e Word while in camp. hehe. coz realli. sometimes take out bible n read can b a bore hehehe...

juz now on my way home, saw a cat like doin yoga. it was sittin so naturally but wit its right rear leg on top of its neck. n it juz stayed in tat position for quite a while, like when i saw it n aft i passed it, it still lazily remained in tat position. kinda cute lah, coz tat pose juz seemed like normal to it.
o well. i m bloggin coz i m bored but lazy to do anythin else. muz realli force myself to write cards. cannot always owe ppl card :/
goin out later for cg. n tmrw's duty, 1st combined wit security. but half of e team from both sides can't make it?! o well.

late night i was kinda shocked tat it was already wed! hah. i was still livin in like mon or tues.
coz sat is my duty! e few other details to b settled here n there.
like nearly forgot to send down dress code though i eventually recalled she's nt usherin so tat was ok.
n todae needa get e meetin times. hmm yeahh. n plan somethings to talk abt etc.
haha. tis week i a bit lost my soul le. keep feelin so blur over tis n tat!
anyways, last night had a great time wit an old friend (as he described me too hehe). time realli slipped past. n we reached home a little bit aft midnight.
e weather looks horrendous. so how m i supposed to go out later? :/

23 Aug - late nights

this entire is kinda crazy. haha. realized tat for half e week, i'd been reachin home like on e next day (aka aft midnight).
hmm yeahh. e 1st 2 days of GC, reached home at like juz aft 12. then e day before GC was ard 12 too. n yest! also ard 12! hah. unbelievable!
coz last night had steamboat wit e CG. was realli a great time, esp since it was a rare time there was so many of us hangin out aft svc.
honestly....yest was like 1st time i kinda enjoyed steamboats. coz e tom yam base was realli gd. was superb wit e instant noodles & e beef. then e hot dog, luncheon meat, meat ball, egg etc etc went well wit e noodles...so yeahh. n e tom yam base made everythin tasted gd too hehe.
for e 1st time i felt tat it was worth my money. honestly i wasn't very keen on steamboat yest, coz of e heavy cost which i didn't felt was justifiable. though i went coz of e cg hehe.
n of coz e fellowship. think we had quite a bit of fun cookin food for one another, talkin, n makin food appear on each other plates hehe.
n we ate n ate n ate n unknowingly, we ended at like 10.30. wahaha. yupps (:
anyway, yest was combined svc. was great nt to hav to serve both svc. n it was nt quite as tirin as before for some reason or another. yeahh.
n haha. it seems tat my combined svc roles r rotated along e same pattern! haha. door - side of seats - front section - mid/back section. tis bein my sixth time, i was at e side of seats (: hehe

back from GC! hehehe. back in e sense tat i finally logged on properly. hehehe.
was physically drainin. kinda like 2 ESS in a day? on 5h plus sleep. e few hours break in btwn day & night seesion prevented cedric & myself from dyin haha.
though tired, i m nt realli in e mood to sleep now actually. juz nt in e mood to do anythin serious hehehe.
anyway. in e midst of all e busyness thru out GC, still caught some thoughts here n there. but due to all e busyness, didn't hav e time to properly consolidate, review & digest. MUST commit myself to do it next week & (if &) when i get e mp3 recordings.
i missed out abt 60-70% of e teachings? but i m realli reminded once again of our core values. Bible-based, Christ-centred & Holy Spirit-empowered. juz so, so impt.
it was realli refreshin goin thru all these very basics in detail wit every lesson, even though i onli received a part of them. coz every lesson brought very interestin fresh perspectives? things i either had 'forgotten' or nvr realli thot of.
workshops were also great haha. i went for e missions one. it gav me a great intro to e world of cross cultural missions.
then e 2nd one was supposed to b leadin Gen Y, but i think it's kinda pointless since i had been leadin them for so many years. besides i m nt in pastoral roles. nt tat i know everythin or wat...so i decided to go for another workshop called The Art of ____ Sermon Delivery. hah. can't rmb e word in e blank (if there was even).
i was e youngest there! haha. thankfully no intro or wat, if nt will b kinda awkward hur. haha.
was impressed by Ps Wilson's preachin skills, thus wanna juz go n learn smt. n someone told me tat it was ok to go, so yeah. i went. surprisingly Ps Wilson wasn't wonderin if i was in e right workshop hehe.
so guess it was a popular misconception tat this kinda workshop is for preachers. which well, a misconception it realli is? coz it was realli interestin to learn e various preachin stuff. tweak it a bit, adapt a bit, e principles can apply to teachings, n even sharings etc. coz essentially, it is all public speaking.
realli enjoyed his workshop. it was very humorous. n mindblowin how preachers can carve out such interestin statements thru their use of words, actions, tone etc etc.
hahaha. honestly, i feel like preparin a sermon aft listenin to everythin. which of course, i will nt b doin haha. dun think i m up to it!
hehe. yeahh. workshops were e onli time i could juz do nothin but listen (:
abt tat for now. round 6 - combined svc tmrw. shall let myself concuss for many, many hours! hehehe.

haha. last week shirls challenged us to pray e dangerous prayer? hah. i juz realized tat even before i could pray tat, a tremendous task had been targeted at me! hahaha.
n e magnitude of it finally hit me! haha. a random bunch of ushers. who can't exactly b counted proper ushers... n apart from e brief program outline on GC website, i dunno anythin abt e program! wahaha. n it's onli 21 hours more to meetin e ushers? lol! cool eh. haha.
but ok lah. everythin shld b fine i hope....esp wit a superbly short briefin time? LOL. so excitin. hehe.
all in all. durin minops cg e teachin, bill hydels was tellin e landscapers tat they r minister of first impressions. which we ushers r too. to welcome, to set 1st impression of Hope S'pore to our guests from foreign shores n locally too. yuppps!
n at e end of e day, GC shld b e time to learn, to listen & to grow! :D

finally blogger load properly hehe.
juz thot to blog abt todae. thot tat todae's teachin was realli gd. a lot of points were relevant. abt stayin inspired. coz e best way to motivate our ppl is to b passionate ourselves.
n i m suddenly reminded abt yest svc. abt e dangerous prayers. 'more', 'use me', 'use me more'. e 2nd is kinda inapplicable. i m kinda experiencin e 3rd one, which had been one of e things on my heart since june.
e 1st one is forever smt to pray abt. cuz as a servant of Christ, u'll nvr realli feel adequate when u serve. u'll always feel tat u need so much more of Him to live up to ur callin.
juz somehow everythin is juz so related to my current situation. to always hav a crystal clear vision of God's callin, to allow Him to use us more to fulfill that vision while at e same time con't to know Him so much more thru e process.
juz now was listenin to PM Lee's national day rally. was quite witty n humorous. was quite intrigued by one of his points on religious harmony. coz he was sharin abt Iran, recently they had some violence over election. so both sides were fightin 'For God!'.
eventually, since their god is the same, they reconciled in some way or another. but wat if S'pore starts fightin n everyone declares they r fightin for tis god or another god. it'll b quite scary actually.
n part of his speech continued to reinforce my amazement at S'pore developments. hehe. 'mental preparation' for army hehe.
o well. some thoughts here n there. comin week shld b kinda busy. needa keep myself spiritually refreshed continually! hehe (:

haha. m postin partly coz gwen was tellin me tat i dun blog as often as before.
e reason y is mostly coz blogger seemed to hav error loadin properly? or is it my comp? or internet? so it's quite a put off to see such an ugly screen? hehe.
n also coz i hav been doin a series of top secret stuff :x hehehe. so nothin to blog abt. although actually tis week been kinda happenin?
wed went to NUS find jerel n who borrowed out for me priceless maps. very excitin hehehe. hmmm. wed didn't seem very far away! haha. seemed like yest?
o well. todae gwen n i accompanied hua xiang go shoppin. hehe. all ard ps. kinda interestin. coz it was like we were at level 1? hx went looked at stuff, then gwen rmb she needed buy smt, then i rmb i needed buy new sermon notebook. so ended up at daiso, then walk, walk into dunno wat shop. coz hx wanted an earpiece.
then went best denki? n we saw $7,988 sewing machine! wahaha.
ended up at another shop. muz say e svc is realli gd. coz hx was very indecisive. hehe. tried here n there but eventually couldn't make up his mind coz of some reasons. instead of changin face, gettin impatient or wat, i can't rmb wat e sales person said...juz tat he graciously 'opened' a way for us to leave. haha.
aiya. dunno how to describe. it's like he knew how much to push? how much to sell? n nt like force a purchase there n then? coz usually when u like bothered e person so much, u will feel 'obligated' to buy it. yet he nicely let us feel nt to worry, we can always go back n buy n wat. yeahhh. tat's e kinda of service i'll b happy payin for n i'll gladly do my very best to buy smt. hehe...
yeahh. then went cartel for half price cakes. hah. though my two ex-sheep r fans of half price cakes, i had NEVER eaten them before. well, u dun usually see me out at 9pm eatin cakes n breads wit ppl! haha.
then ended e day at carrefour. yupp. haha. in e end, we walked ard for like 2+h?! hah. n mostly is taggin along wit hx even though we each bought our own stuff. hehehe.
i wan sleep le actually. but bloggin coz waitin for eevoon's reply! hah. realized i hav no impression wat we meetin tmrw! lol. so i needa know wat time to wake up! hehehe.
yupp. todae was a great day all in all. was on duty for both svc. quite interestin. n well worth it hehe.

every national day since 2002 carried a kind of strange significance for me. apart from the sea of red & air of patriotism, it is also a time to rmb the decision I made to receive Christ on 10 August 2002.
esp in recent years, i'd tend to think back n giv thanks.
yest had an early 'celebration'. at a very quiet playground at e edge of private houses n shielded from the main road by tall bushes linin the edge. haha. sound so emo-ish hur. n wit a can of beer in my hand. n plugged into my MP3 juz playin songs tat juz so perfectly suited the atmosphere.
i curled up on the slide n juz let my thoughts loose. it was very nice juz relaxin on e slide in such a peaceful environment n enjoyin a very nice beer. juz tat curlin up meant i couldn't burp properly hahaha.
nonetheless, pen down several thoughts.
gav thanks for His love all these years. yest mornin a thought came to my mind. tat God is realli nvr ever far. He may appear out of sight, but He is always there. or rather we cloud our minds to see Him.
thank Him for His unfailin love. n recommitted again the areas i had identified durin june camp. i juz feel kinda discontented how we can so often "i don't feel like..." n juz compromise when God Himself always had more 'right' to use tat phrase but yet He didn't.
it is juz such a big, big irony i juz feel so irritated of myself. hah. was kinda banging e slide thinkin abt it. thankfully no one else ard or else they'll think i'm some lunatic! haha.
thankful of how much more I known Him thru these 7 years. how much He had grown me, esp over e past year, in e area of faith.
was sharin wit e 1st svc team. when i received Christ, they were onli p1, p2, p3? or prob p4? haha. i was sec 1 then. a naive little boy who was totally clueless abt church & abt God. n now who am I?
anyway. i sorted out several thoughts n came out wit some ministry plans too. realli wan to b more Spirit-filled to build His church (:

haha. last night andrew kept pesterin me tat he'll b very bored todae. so i randomly suggested to go cyclin n even showed him one of my expedition plans. half in hope he wun b put off hehe. ended up he is interested...so haha. i found myself my 1st ever expedition partner.
though actually aft tat i couldn't realli believe tat i m goin out wit andrew. haha. so later we'll b spendin abt an afternoon n i'll show him part of e old eastern coastline plus some 'landmarks' hehe..juz hope he wun lose interest halfway or wat :p
goin for a hair cut late in e afternoon. thankful tat e onli available appointment time was 6.30? so at least i can go for expedition hehe..
o yes. yest i got a letter from mindef. quite funny lah, my enlistment date got pulled forward. weird hor. by 1-3days! haha. erm. i m nt specifyin 1, 2 or 3 days for mystery sake hehehe. o wells.
tmrw's usherin duty again. tonite muz spend another round to prepare myself.

10 aug is comin (:
haven't thot of wat to do. hav a DA meet though.
yest was an expedition of hougang/kovan/lrg ah soo/upp paya lebar. was pretty fun coz a lot of old buildings. so was snappin away, n sometimes wit ppl lookin at me curiously. hehehe.
enjoyed myself nonetheless. cyclin ard n explorin is wat i enjoy. though yest was quite a bit more tirin coz of hilly terrain. actually if u cycle ard S'pore a lot, u'll realize we aren't as flat as we think we are. we may nt hav mountains, but we hav a lot of tiny hills! n we aren't tat small.
well. tat's an issue of relativites n absolutes. hehehe.
todae played 6-in-1 risk. haha. i, 1 person, play e role of 6 players in risk! hehe. well, i wun mind if somebody is free enough to spare a day to play wit me. since there isn't, i play myself lor. it's me again, to juz strategize, deploy troops, puttin myself in various shoes, n then juz fight & conquer. e game is also pretty much a game of 'chance'. if e die always is in favor of ur opponent, ur forces will soon b annihilated. hehehe.
i added my own elements into e game hah.. like treaties of alliance, neutral countries, treaty of passage thru neutrals, capital cities etc...
tmrw will b spendin time at e movies! Harry Potter then Public Enemies before chionging down to CG. hehehe. hopefully e ads will b short :x if nt i'll b slightly late :/ ahaha..

todae wasn't as physically tirin as last week. but todae i juz felt quite drained at e end, possibly emotionally n mentally n spiritually bahh. o well. a hard & complicated topic to expound here. watever the case, i juz feelin sleepin early haha.
so todae left earlier, esp coz much of e CG had gone. o well. treated myself to a gd dinner wit a touch of budget hehehe. KFC Cheese Fries, McChicken & McFlurry. i dun particularly enjoy McChicken, but i need somethin cheap n fillin. no need drinks coz i takeaway hehe.
i seem kinda patriotic haha. these past few days been hearin old national day songs from youtube hehe. but ok lah, mostly quite nice so yeahhh.
national day is comin. n wit it also e 7th anniversary. of e day i made e decision to accept Christ. 7 long yearss. sometimes i feel realli old. like todae saw so many familiar faces from PolyDINS. even an old primary sch friend. wahaha. old in e sense of being an elder to e youths?
like todae, vylan! he's onli in pri sch....a life stage tat is so far from me! my last/current life stage is poly. n e one before was secondary. then before tat then is pri sch wahaha. dunno if u get wat i mean, but yeahh, i need to set a gd life example, be responsible in how i relate etc. hahh.
back to todae's svc. somehow juz felt last week was better? yeahh. todae we were prepared for last week kinda situation, but todae situation was onli wat we were prepared for last week. confused? think harder haha.
lesser but still quite a bit of goin up n down. coz moved stuff up on stage for sermon n down stage aft sermon. then 2nd svc Ps Shirls called us M1, M2, M3, M4. hahaha. i m up there to quickly do my job, so i quietly laughed in my heart before snappin back to work hehe.
lesser converts, but well it was still lives we saved.
overall. this ESS was kinda pushin & stretchin our usherin skills to e limits hehe. in how we handled overflow, in how we handled overrun, in how we handled e givin out of new b packs etc etc. well done to all ushers! hehe (:
think we needa step up our usher leadership development! hehe. think when we move to our new building, we need more FMs & possibly more TLs. if nt will die one ar. n we need walkies. much of e walkin was to go n communicate info, or to observe e situation which over a walkie can juz ask e leader there. hehe.

numbers 14-15 is one of e most memorable passages in my life. i dunno y for so many years, tis is one passage tat had stuck in my mind. there are few passages tat i rmb like this.
been always awed by the principles in it? hm yeahh. i can't rmb wat was e factor tat had got me stuck to it in e 1st place.
anyways, todae i revisited tat passage n i was juz wow-ed by it again. tis is e story tat talks abt y the Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years. think i was wow-ed by the kind of disobedience n lack of faith e ppl had.
like todae. i read it n it juz kinda related to some of e things in my ministry? like. when i look ahead, all i see is a lot of obstacles n giants n watever nt. yet i know tat it's God's will. it's e Promised Land.
but yeahh, so often, i look at e obstacles n giants n grumble n wished i had nt been chosen, wish i can juz stay where i m etc. which was exactly wat e Israelites did!
then i thought abt it....eventually, 40 years down, their descendants conquered e land. if you dun wan to go, someone else will go. coz it's meant to b conquered. it's whether u choose to go wit faith n obedience or nt.
n if u reject God's callin, u wun get a second chance! when e ppl woke up from their disillusionment, they decided to go against God to claim e land but were defeated..
so yeahh. it kinda juz struck me tat our calling is a privilege, no matter how tough it may seem. yep. an encouragement lah, esp nowadays quite idle, so tend to think e wrong things haha..
o well. rendition II tmrw! lookin forward to great performances, though much of e svc will b busy hehe. lookin forward to a soul harvest too. shirls' blog recorded 121 converts, though eHope, as always, there is onli 80. so i wonder wat happened to e other 40 haha.
o well. last week we clearly had abt 1300 ppl. yet stats was barely 1200. haizz.
so yeahh. tonite will b an early night. tmrw will b a big battle!
o. i estimated e converts based on new b packs quite accurately haha. coz i estimated abt 90+ for 1st svc n abt 30 for 2nd svc. so yupp! 120! haha.
yupp. been blogging less coz been busy wit my own personal stuff. such as researching & plannin next week's expedition. n next week will b goin for a mini movie marathon - Harry Potter plus Public Enemy. hah. weird combi. o well.

rendition was very, very gd! e standard was realli gd, though i think i enjoyed onli 1 full performance hah. n my fav one, mouthband hehe.
todae 1st svc attendance was explosive. though we expected overflow, but it was way beyond at least my own imagination. like recep was so packed n we had to usher some ppl up to africa room.
n it was nt like a gradual thing, like when start overflow a bit, then as go on then needa more space...was like right from e start we had to quickly bring more seats over. n nexus seats r nt exactly tat light hehe.
so it was quite hectic goin up n down to oversee things. & also realli tirin. somehow i now look back n wonder if there was realli so many things to see to tat i had to go up to 6th floor n down to 5th floor so often haha.
actually i was hardly in audi at all throughout 1st svc, onli times i was in were like tellin ppl stuff, assigning things etc. haha.
hmmm yeahhh... next week shld b better hehe. coz todae wasn't prepared for TAT many ppl. so hadn't planned properly. so next week attendance better b as gd as todae! hah. if nt preparations will b for nothin haha.
well. wat a gd show. honestly, tis usher who hardly watched e performances feel tat it was realli gd le. let alone those visitors who could enjoy everythin, n hav seats. hah. 1st svc i hardly sat down.
o well. 2nd svc was more manageable. almost full house onli. so yeahh had an easier time (:
but yeahh. goin by new b packs, todae shld hav at least 100 converts! though honestly 1st svc didn't seem so many. but we took like 100 packs? n onli a small handful was left. so either some ppl eat them up or realli tat many.
so yeahh! think will rest early tonite. actually onli my feet n legs r tired from all e runnin n climbin of stairs (5th to 6th, 6th floor entrance, africa room, audi stairs) hehe (:

i m still a member of Hope Church Singapore. but i'd been addicted to CHC songs of late. e chinese songs actually. n their songs too.
i particularly The God I Know. it is a very gd song. like we remind ourselves of who God is in e 1st chorus n in e 2nd chorus God had been replaced by us, the church. it is a song abt who God is, n ideally e church is also who God is.
it is juz an inspirin song of e mighty church, n mighty coz of a mighty God. e lyrics juz so aptly summed up e key characteristics of e mighty church.
hehe yeahh. i'd been listenin to chinese songs coz i found tat i m quite sian of english versions haha.
but juz encouraged by God. coz i wasn't feelin too up juz now. then a slight change in events lifted my spirits. from barely being able to call a team, now i hav a more decent 'team' haha. :)

anyway, minops cg shuz shared smt tat was so true. it is always in e deepest of our valleys tat our character is molded n grown. in the highest of mountains we can onli catch vision, dreams & inspirations.
been reflectin on certain things tat had happened wit y-admin started. n it's juz an obvious example of tat. so much difficulties had pop up along the way. aft all, it's like a journey down a very deep n dark valley where i can onli see one or two step at a time. so yeahh. scary, but i think i'd grown quite a bit hehe.

realized it's been almost a week since i last blogged.
been busy mainly wit a personal hobby/interest. hehe
stayed home except for mon & fri. though went out for breakfast on wed & a couple of cycling ard on wed & thurs.
played game n did random stuff hehe.
wat a 'luxurious' sat today. woke up at 10 todae. when usually i m almost at nexus alreadi haha. a gd start to this second half of e year. hehe. look fwd to more slackin at home at 10am hehe.
since camp & even yest CPM, i had been feelin a sense of excitement for tis 2nd half of e year. coz both ministries will b movin forward into new grounds. i'll b risin up to kinda new & more challengin leadership roles. n most of all, i'll b goin army in 2nd half of oct.
realli need to keep in step wit God more. n always bear in mind his love in my life (:

22 Jun - a crazy friday

fri i hav usher retreat at sentosa. then got DA meeting. actually onli 2 DA haha.
then y-admin outing in evening. wat a crazily packed fri - i'm wonderin wat to wear haha. jeans to sentosa is crazy but appropriate for esplanade! lol.
n sat is my duty! wahaha. 2 svc! lol. i'm crazy! haha.
o wells.
todae nexus spring cleaning.. transformed holy comm room wit e help of north dudes - main characters: vincent & liyan, jia jun, supporting characters: leonard, nicholas & a few others i dunno. hehe.
total casualties: 3 cockroaches & a few spiders. haha.
1 was hidin in a box tat we brought to africa for carmen to sort thru. haha, e girls helpin her went hysterical. n so e north guys went in to surround e box n look for it. in e end, it was carmen who juz coolly caught e cockroach! hah.
another one juz turned out dead. hah. it juz appeared on e metal cabinet. dunno where it came from or how it died. initially there was nothin. then a casual glance noticed e dead cockroach. haha.
o well. feel very satisfied seeing e 'new', rearranged, cleaned up n repacked holy comm. hehehe.
anyway, look forward to fri, spendin time wit y-admin ppl. n givin thanks for e season thus far. n settin directions n goals.
haha. juz hope we'll b full & satisfied even on our kinda tight budget hehe. will b tappin on my personal ministry fund to ensure tat we can all hav a great time.

20/21 Jun - Role Model

todae sermon, Dennis spoke abt role model. was smt tat kinda struck my heart.
coz like, tis is one of e primary reasons y i m stayin back in youth, though i m long 'overage'. hehehe.
coz i know thru my ministry i can influence lives, may nt b very big. but i know tat many ushers look up to me in some way or another here n there.
even as i build ministries, i wan to build e lives behind them as well. aft all, ministries can somewat b built in other congregations mah.
however e diff is tat here, we r doin things tat will make an impact on youth. ppl who are impressionable. ppl who r moldable n ought to b molded in e right way.
anyway, todae stepped into a LAN shop for God knows since when. watched minops ppl play L4D, n was learnin e theoratical aspects of e game. quite fun actually hehehe, though doubt i'll play it hehe.
n then went supper wit most of e CG. it's been long since i hang out so late.
nvr enjoy hanging out, unless it is easy to get home or someone can accompany most of e journey. so yeah, todae thank God for zhicai, hehe.
ok lah. as i said, hang out late. so means reach home late. means tired le. means time to go off le. n blog more again hehehehe XD

yays. super excited.
thru mar's water bap, to recent wfl & yest's membership class, a bug bear in e admin process is tat we can't work on e same file simultaneously.
n thus i had been thinkin. n yesterday got down to a crazy task of figurin out a solution.
n aft several failures, surfin ard e net, googling things up, trial n error, i hav finally learnt how to create an ad hoc network!
means....w/o internet, we can still open e same file, see changes made by someone else immediately, n onli hav 1 version of a file!
works juz as long as the laptop hav wireless (which all laptops now hav...)
pity i juz onli uncovered tis possibility today....when e season's juz left wit 2 more events. o well. great potential. great breakthrough. hehehe...
a gigantic step forward in registration. 1st movin into laptops, 2nd movin into simultaneously updatin. wahaha.
it's juz so cool. hehehe...
juz sharin my joy ard... hehe. aft hours of hair pullin experimenting n stormin thru all e articles out there. piecein things tgt step by step to achieve tis wahaha.

16/17 Jun - Love Language & Spiritual Pathway

camp we did love language test. n recently a couple of significant ppl had asked me abt my spiritual pathway, so yeah, googled up a test n did it. here r e results & personal commentary:
Love Lang ---
1. Quality Time - my quality time is kinda selfish, coz it muz b things i like to do, yet there r many things no one else seems to like. another component tat struck me abt tis is e part on ppl servin/doin things aside u. nvr thought of quality time in tat way, coz i think tat part is wat made it e top scorer.
2. Words of Affirmation - i like cards n words, always touched
3. Acts of Service - no further comments, except tat it tied with no. 2.
4. Gifts - apart from money, i hav no practical need/want. unless u can find a 1960 street directory or wat for me hehehe.
5. Touch - tat's onli a 1. quite surprisingly, i thought guys kinda enjoy tat, so i do try giv gift of touch time to time - a pat on e shoulder...

Spiritual Pathway ---
1. Activist - hm yeah, tis is quite complicated, seem quite e few as no. 4. but i think there has more to do wit a 'likin' to take up challenges n problems n solvin them. n juz b amazed how God used me to resolve them n turn them into God glorifyin acts.
2. Worship - hm, tis is quite a surprise, but guess there had been too many memorable emotional moments
3. Intellectual - i like to think n learn n b rationalize. n tis kinda balance up e worship part, tat i dun juz hav emotions but also real thoughts (though i sometimes feel quite a hypocrite)
4. Serving - tie wit intellectual. u always see me runnin abt now n then. seeing a need n meetin it. i feel good meetin e church's needs n servin it.

hmmm yeah. somethin like tat. bloggin before i forget.
gtg le. there's lunch abt 12h from now wit y-admin volunteers for membership class.
n within tis 12 hour - 8 hour sleep, 1h tv, 1h travel...

15 Jun - unstoppable camp

past 1 week been busy wit camp preparations & of coz camp itself.
camp seemed quite short n i was kinda sad we broke camp todae. hah, i dun like endings - prob except onli e end of tis race.
one main thing i took away was to make these emotions into action.
living a life worthy of my calling.
an uncompromised life - living strictly to God's standards.
a consistent life - life that dun swing up n down.
a life of faith - faith that comes from God.
a life of breakthroughs - breakthrough that comes from new levels of faith.
yeahh. think wanna sleep soon. a bit tired.
post camp syndrome - suddenly feelin kinda too freee....
tmrw needa figure out e next week's plans.
esp Y-Admin, wit our outin either tis week or next week. needa consolidate some thoughts...
talkin abt Y-Admin, m proud of the team, always so enthu, ready to serve. m glad tat we all came tgt as a team several times tis camp. there's potential in tis ministry (:

got quite a surprise mail today. email i mean.
finally e PolyDINS transfers r settled. pheww. now's juz waitin for it to b effected in ehope, since e one who can do it is goin overseas.
hah, been waitin till i kinda gave up hope le haha. like if they wan to transfer then transfer, dun wan do anythin i also can't haha.
y-admin tee turned pretty fine. either ppl r ok wit it or they dun like it but dunno wat to say (aft all, they r also helpless). haha. though e words r a little small, a bit bigger will hav been better. but hah, i m clueless abt e size of e 'design', so since wat e printer suggested sound gd, i had gone along wit it (aft all, he shld known better) so yeahhh. haha.
actually, e busyness of last week kinda thrown me off my feet. i realize tat i had nothin on tmrw! arr. hah. i mean, in e day, coz evening/night goin out meet xy & wk plan games teams.
hopefully 3 brains can work way faster than 1.
planned to cut hair, but no time slot :( n wed's off day, so thurs 2.30. like in e middle of e day. :/ coz thurs needa help accommo n camp tags. so dunno leh, juz know i need get a hair cut before camp....

i saved abt 40 sms-es today by askin 2 of my ppl who hav unlimited sms to help me forward sms. saved abt 30 for wenzhen too.
ok, in case u're wonderin y am i lookin for 40-70 ppl, it's coz 30 of them r receivin a sms tat is 2 sms long.
thanks to david sentosa (y-admin) & andrew (usher). hah. 1 in each ministry, so 'handy'. hehe.
but there r still some mass sms tat i needa send myself haha.
phew. camp is comin so soon. i rmb i had asked for all details in by yest (sun). now's mon le, shall go spot check see wat's nt done yet.
it's tis kinda incomprehensible inefficiency tat i feel is my greatest worry when i hand over camp admin to someone else.
dun care. make them stay back durin games to do it. or dinner wahaha.
yay. tmrw collectin y-admin. pray tat it'll b nice. hehe.
n i finally found & decided on a nice place for our y-admin outin! haha. dependin on their budget, we may juz hav a budget main course (like at food court? $3-4 a plate haha) then spend more on e desserts (where one item costs at least $4-5? haha) hahaha.
wanted another place coz i hav 15% off, but atmosphere nt gd. so guess $5 return voucher n a complimentary gift tin can make for it. better than nothin! wahaha.
yeahh. my retreat/outin is juz go somewhere chill out one. tat's me ar. though i m administrative, it is too big a headache to find one afternoon n then to plan abt food & drinks n then go some beach play games. hehe.
besides, i dun like too active stuff. juz find a place, sit down, enjoy gd food, chit chat. simple. hehe. i prefer food than playin ball games or wat hehehe.

yest night cycled to punggol park to do some reflection. hav to say it was a fruitful time. kinda set some camp objectives too.
really needa adopt greater resolve n steadfastness in my life. to b a leader with true spirituality. bein in church for so long, it's very easy to fake spirituality, coz u juz know wat's e right thing to do, e right thing to say. but e essence n meaning is nt there.
a leader that leads out of gratefulness for God's love & grace on him. grateful thus desiring to lead ppl to know God. building lives for His glory & Kingdom.
hmmm yeahh. n e stupid internet is so slow....rahh. ok, wat a lousy endin to such a nice post hehehe

5 Jun - a craving for expeditions

todae took 153 to queensway meet jerel. its route actually pass by many of e old roads of s'pore. n yeahh, ignite in me a desire to go on expeditions again, to explore n find out remnants of e past. hehe.
though my 1st round of expeditions burnt & drenched & tired me out, i dun mind goin again for it. hehe. though prob i'll go a lighter load.
n prob find a cap too.keep some of e heat away. heat is better than drenched. seriously. coz when it's wet, i can't see & i needa protect my valuable assets. too hot, juz drink more stay hydrated.
prob i shld aft camp. honestly, it's very interesting. in fact large swathes of s'pore were kampongs. then S'pore bulldozed them down n redeveloped HDB blocks n built new roads.
coz i had thought s'pore was largely forested, but no! it's nt. many of e HDB blocks were built on old kampongs & farms.
anyways, y-admin tee is ready! shall collect it on mon. 18 tees, wonder if i can manage or nt hah.
realli hope it looks gd n nice. if nt juz kill me. seriously, juz kill me.
H1N1 cases - 14. 12 from US, 2 from Melbourne. think whoever juz visited US & Melbourne shld nt b allowed to go camp hah (if there r any who went).

don't know y these days been kinda tired. haha. nearly forgot tmrw's my duty even!!! n yest though i asked most of my coreteam durin workshop for confirmation, i realized none gav me! lol.
1 more week to camp! haha. will b servin most of e camp, but will take time grow closer to God too.
personally, as this camp draws closer, i feel that registration is pretty smooth this time, a lot of bits n pieces were pasted correctly etc. means there's more order & etc.
though i feel like killin ppl for keyin in registration so late haha. i hav a whole lot of screenshots of evidence! next camp briefin they shall all b on display! wahaha.

todae woke up early to watch tv :x
now feelin quite tired aft leadin most of wfl todae.
sometimes i wonder. we r juz mere men. sometimes u can't realli blame us for appearin cold & fierce. i mean, we had been repeatin our stance so, so many times? even if u hadn't heard, u'll hav seen?
n yeah, i mean. sometimes u tend to juz get a bit impatient aft repeatin somethin a 1001 times. hehe. esp when u're tired & it's juz nt u to smile.
which makes me wonder. how come i m an usher? lol.
o well. todae had usher meetin at isle cafe. picked up a money wallet/pouch. almost no identification except a john little card. so went to john little to turn it over. coz onli they will hav any clue how to contact e person.
then when i was home n havin dinner, e person gav me a call to express her thanks. $70-$75 wallet intact, honestly, i was feelin a bit too honest haha.
in fact, i was wonderin wit deng, how come i wasn't in e least tempted.
prob i came across way more money than tat, till money tat is nt mine has no hold on me.
honestly, i wish i could hav pocketed tat money hehehe.
ok. $40 i can spend on 2-3 drinks or smt. $10 giv offerin. then $20 can go to my y-admin outing. :p
haha. nt too bad ar. abt 50% goes to e Kingdom. haha.
honestly, if there was no john little card, tat money will b mine hah. since turnin it over to anyone else will almost likely mean the money bein pocketed by tat someone else.

todae was WFL.
juz dunno y, todae i m nt in my best mode.
prob coz WFL was somethin i had been to in ages? so there were many things tat happened tat i didn't kinda expect. so wasn't able to b truly effective, efficient n excellent.
but i thank God for my volunteers who came. 'part timers' - Si Hui (West), Huan Wen (North). 'full timers/regulars' - David, Ming Quan, Davis, Wei Keat, Xue Yong. basically all e guys in e team! lol.
really dun feel at peace within my heart, tat i juz felt there were many things todae tat i could had done, or i wish could had been done better. :/
n i m juz somehow feelin veri tired. shall go rest soon bah.
then tmrw needa plan camp usherin stuff.
hmm yeahh. all in all, i thank God for e volunteers i hav. todae was a big scale event wit a record breakin number of volunteers. shows tat it can b done! :D

31 May - Masquerade

fri night, or rather sat mornin, i onli slept abt 5hours half.
on sat, my 1st meal was at abt 8am. my 2nd & my last meal was at abt 10pm.
in btwn tat, i had 2 hours of pre-service briefin, n abt 5h of svc usherin. then another 45min of packin up of tis n tat n watever nt.
n then camped at recep for abt another 2h to wrap up wfl stuff.
wat a hectic day yesterday. wit ppl findin me abt camp & wfl stuff at all kinds of imaginable hours.
like durin 2nd svc when i'm busy, like 10pm when i m havin dinner? lol.
ok lah, i m ever ready to b on call. but juz tat i wonder if they can like call me prob at a later timin.
n yest i caught like 2nd or e 3rd last bus at abt 11.30pm. n i reached home juz b4 12. bathed n then got down to settlin a bit of wfl reg. slept at 1.
tat y todae i m still quite tired n blur. recoverin from e tiredness of yest. ushering is ever so tirin somehow or another, esp ESS. n esp 2nd svc, e team dynamics is different so in some sense i preferred doin certain things myself.
o, aft campin at recep, we went all e way down to pasir ris for bbq. e food was realli gd. hehehe. coz bbq i usually hav no expectations. it's usually me havin nothin much to eat. yest wasn't tat case.

been a few days since i blogged.
e busyness of e season has come. usher & admin.
been busy settlin y-admin tee. realli thank God for zyann's patience, understanding & hard work. workin under a leader who can't design anythin nice. n under a tight deadline. n wit a new program.
been busy last night & tonight callin up volunteer ushers. can't believe camp is in 2 weeks.
n i juz rmb i needa drop a sms to my ushers? haha.
then sat's ESS. gosh. rmb needa drop an sms to polydins info counter hah. okie, sent.
next/comin mon's wfl. so todae also had a meet up to prepare.
my 1st wfl in ages n my last for ages too, i think. hehe.
these days had a few pts to giv thanks for:
-tues, e rain stopped juz before i went out
-& then later on, walkin out of my 1st destination, i reached e bus stop juz as it rained
-the bus came right on time tat i can still get transfer rebate (it was nearin e 45min)
n 2 incidents tat i dunno to laugh or to respond in other ways:
-wed, bus 66 went e wrong route hah. it was my 2nd time takin e bus, so when it went off e correct route, i had thought i rmb wrongly e route. but moments later, i start realli wonderin if i was on e right bus...coz i was sure tat tis was 66, but tis sure wasn't e route! i peered out of e window, look at e bus stop see wat bus goes there - n none of e buses there go where i came from.
n, very interestingly, as it went pass potong pasir station, got ppl even flag e bus down & boarded! i was juz in shock? like. hmmm. tis is very weird. n like no one seemed to hav gone up ask e bus driver wat happened.
well, juz before it went e wrong way, i was readin e Bible n listenin to mp3, so wasn't realli realizin e bus. i mean, how often do buses go e wrong way? lol.
n at potong pasir, a very surprised passenger looked at me and asked if it was 66. n i could so confidently say yes & explain to her possibly why, n tat it is connectin back to e original route a stop later hahaha.
it is juz quite funny, so i was sittin right behind, so i was actually observin everyone else to see if anyone else look puzzled n lost, n no one seemed to b. haha.
actually one thought i had was, is my bus fare gonna b 20cents more expensive coz of e detour joyride? lol. if yes, i m so gonna call up sbs n scream at them hahaha.
n then juz now....cycled out to hougang central coz i wanted to eat chix rice. a bit crazy ar, to cycle 10min to buy hur, haha. juz wanted to eat tat stall coz i m confident it'll turn out e way i craved for lol.
but tat's nt e point. point is. e traffic lights near hougang central kinda 'hung'. lol.
like, it juz stays green to one direction of traffic. so like, many, many poor drivers r like stuck there wonderin to ignore e red light n juz cross cox there's simply no traffic comin e other way! lol.
n e pedestrians too, like me (ok, i m a cyclist), wonderin if it is safe to cross. haha. coz no lights will turn green.
n then later, aft i bought tmrw breakfast n tonight's dinner, n cycling back, the traffics were still as it is! hah.
i was thinkin mayb b a kind soul, look for e number to call n report e error. but haha, as i was cyclin past, someone seem to b callin le, so hah, shall juz head home hav my dinner.

wow. last week of may. next week will mark the start of an excitin 7 weeks admin season haha.
every week at least 1 event, except for 1 week slightly aft midpoint.
needa b strong spiritually. it is juz so impt to b in tune wit God if nt it'll juz b missin e point.
need greater intentionality to grow. to breakthru.
been thinkin, i'd been usherin quite a bit tis year thus far. it can b kinda tirin spiritually in some sense, as ultimately part of ur heart & consciousness is on ur surroundings. so like some parts of e svc juz dun get into u. prob it is me, coz i'm like a robot. needa change mode one. hahaha.
tat y though i don't usually do 2nd svc, by e time debrief, take a short break, reorientate myself to svc, it's usually worship le. hehe.
yeahh. tat y walkin wit God can't b a sat thing. it needs to b everyday.
o well. wanted to blog tis last time, but forgot.
it is kinda irritatin logging in & out of y-admin & my own gmail/google accounts. tat is one thing gd abt stickin to yahoo. so i dun need keep logging into my own account to check email. hah.

i enjoy a life where i can b busy for a few days then b totally free for one to juz slack, play n do light work n do nothin. hehe.
tmrw's duty. guess i m pretty much ready to serve.
thought out pretty much abt tmrw arrangement. realize tmrw my ushers nt tat many. but more than enough still.
juz tat todae kinda play too much, thought of wakin up early tmrw juz seem so scary haha.
been servin a lot of 1st svc tis year thus far, think the time is finally here when i m nt needed tat often.
interestingly, though i m used to wakin early on sat, n makin my way down to nexus early, my mind still wish i can dun do so. haha.
it is juz so interesting tat i didn't exactly started out ushering wantin to b a perm usher haha.
trouble always comes to those who asked for it. hehe.

o well, but generally workin well.
nt to mean anything, but my CL flew off without doin stats! haha.
but ok lah, i know how to do stats n our stats very easy one. juz tick everyone.
nt like some pastoral grp, e UL cum DA juz flew off, so haha, thankfully her kinda disciple offered herself for some other stuff but now become e temp DA. haha. too bad, since i dunno anyone else. hahaha.
hmm yeah. afternoon came & past. no one called me or wat to ask why i nvr go grad ceremony. or did they juz assume tat i had disappeared under NS? haha. so i m nt exactly missed.
todae bought a pen. replenish my almost non-existence rag tag stationery. actually got 4 members, 1 green pen, 1 multi-color pen eevoon gav me, 1 pencil & 1 dyin black pen. there r also several other 90% dead pens... so nt exactly non-existence haha.
todae bought an orange pen. coz dun hav black one leh, n i dun like e blue ones haha.
while choosin, i initially saw a $2.50 one, so thought it was e onli type. so took it.
then browse n saw a $2.30 one, aye, cheaper, so compare a bit, put back e $2.50 one. more ex & in fact heavier.
then browse again, ayeee! saw a $1.80 one! even cheaper! lol.
then look below, saw a $1.65 one, wah, even cheaper. but i dun like it, coz it is e cap kind. when use of admin, i need e click one. if u get wat i mean.
so in e end, got e $1.80. cheap, but above all, it is 0.5. e $2+ plus had very fat tips, like 1. i dun like above 0.5,0.7.
so yeahh.
forgot to say (actually i rmb, but i didn't wan to say until now), i was lookin for a pen tat has like e clip. easier to clip onto myself when doin admin stuff. since e admin season is comin & i need one.
my prev one got killed by ____ coz i allowed her to drew on my camp book a couple camps back. the drawin proved too intensive for e pen. hehe.

19 May - grad ceremony

but i m juz too lazy to register & to go. k lah, nt realli lazy, it's juz tat i dun see e point of spendin money & time to go..

aiya one thing though, will miss out on e food! haha. as if i enjoy food so much....lol.

18 May - blogging again

boredom has made me gone back to blogging quite a bit more hahaha.
now desperately tryin to find things to fill life up haha.
listenin to 'to the ends of the earth' juz fills me wit emotions.
remind me of e countless times many others & myself hav resolved to follow God all the way. all the 'till the end together' & 'let's finish the race tgt'.
e years of fightin the kingdom of darkness. haha. suddenly i feel kinda old, juz so unlike who i was then.
many ppl know tat i enjoy war movies. though i muz admit they hav many terrible scenes.
esp the part whenever the infantry hav to storm enemy positions.
it is very bloody, many, many fall under the witherin hail of bullets, bombs & shells.
yet no matter wat e cost, they hav to take it to win. no matter how many waves, how many charges, one aft another they go.
sometimes the enemy counterattacks, n drives them back. yet they go on.
before each charge, they shell & bomb & gun the positions, artillery & aircraft. then confident, they charge out again, hopin tis time some positions had been knocked out.
then aft minutes of witherin fire, they crumble back again.
fightin spiritual battles is juz tis tough. when u thought u got it, u realized u didn't.
u try again & again. but e enemy stands firm.
sometimes the enemy counterattacks, u can thrown back off balance.
yet, u go on & on. charge aft charge.
coz u know the final victory is urs. u know u'll prevail at the end.
it has been almost 7 years. if i live till 70, there is still 50 years ahead. hopefully Christ returns earlier. hehe. or at least call me home earlier hehe.
nvr been easy & nvr will be. will b a bloody & difficult struggle.
but we can always be assured by the cross. hehe :D

todae too carefree le. till i m too bored.
since i was back, i had yet been bored. busy clearin tis admin & tat admin stuff n etc. :x
till i was 'stalkin' xueyong on google docs as he was updatin it. hehe. tat's somethin kinda fun abt google docs.
u juz type, it appears, so can type somethin stupid, which i didn't lah. i juz pointed out a mistake. hehe.
bleahhh, i m too bored. :(
